offers a powerful, holistic

common crises women face today.
Happy
New Year! Hope your 2010 and the new decade has started
with a bang.
My early January brought with it some startling yet
wonderful shifts, all around the experience of
"receiving."
Thanks to a powerful conversation I had in late
December with my friend and colleague -- holistic
financial consultant
Denise Hughes -- I've opened myself to the idea of
letting go of focusing so intently on earning more, and
instead am focusing on true receiving -- being open to
the universe's bounties that are there waiting to be
received and gratefully embraced.
The Power of
Receiving
From that empowering conversation in December, I decided
to stop working so hard at creating abundance, and allow
myself to receive more fully. I can't tell you what a
shift that new focus has generated for me, and I'm
thinking it might be helpful for you as well. As I made
this revision in behavior and thinking, I discovered
that I'm not so hot at receiving! (Does this resonate
with you?)
Over these past 10 years of reinvention, I've become
so habitually ensconced in the "giving" mode -- as a
mom, spouse, friend, daughter, and as a coach and
professional, that I've forgotten how to soulfully receive -- down to my toes and throughout
every cell of my body.
As I practice full, open-hearted and grateful
receiving, I've been given (or shall I say, I finally
opened my eyes to) so many gifts around me -- of
spiritually-conscious and beautiful new friends, new
aligned business partners who are happy to support and
be supported, exciting new projects, and most of all,
JOY! I discovered too that receiving is not selfish or
narcissistic (as I feared it would be). On the other
hand, as you become filled up to the brim through your
receiving, your cup runs over and there is ever so much
more to give others.
So my theme for 2010 is
receiving! What's your theme?
Let this be the year and decade in which we all fully
receive the amazing bounties of the universe and of our
lives. As we do, our life and work experience will most
assuredly change for the better.

National Research Study on Women Succeeding Abundantly
As you
may know, I've embarked on a national qualitative
research study on
Women Succeeding Abundantly with
working women, ages 25 to 75, who are experiencing
abundant success on their terms, and are thriving and
living joyfully.
The
study focuses on women who consider themselves highly
successful in life and work, and have advice and lessons
to share with other women about achieving success,
fulfillment, and well-being and living with a sense of
passion, power, and purpose.
The
target audience will resonate with the statement: "I
know what I want in life and work, and I am achieving it
on my terms and with great success."
The
results of the study will be dedicated to expanding our
understanding of the specific choices, actions,
behaviors and thinking that help women across all
generations achieve abundant success. A trade book and a
variety of education and coaching programs will be among
the offerings.
If you
believe that you fit the criteria, and are interested in
participating in the study -- anonymously, if you wish
-- please email me at
.
Also, feel free to suggest any friends or colleagues who
might be interested.
Getting Into Your Social Media Aha! Moment
by
Nettie Hartsock
If
you're feeling like you've arrived too late to a
cocktail party with all the Web 2.0 advances, then this
article should serve to inspire you to move forward one
Web step at a time and claim your place on the Web.
The
key in social media is making sure the tools you are
using are the best ones for you. Each person, company,
community, non-profit is different in what works best
for them on Web 2.0. You don't have to start with all
tools at once. Just put one Web-foot in front of the
other and start slowly. It's a marathon not a sprint and
you can grow whatever you start virtually click by
click.
The
great thing about the Web no matter what the number
(2.0, 3.0, 80.0) is that the Web gives us so much free
and valuable information to help you utilize all these
tools. With sites like DailyBlogTips.com, Mashable.com
and Twittip.com, you can learn as you go!
You
are never too old to learn something new. You are never
too old to be a genius at social media, life, the arts,
social media, music or even happiness. You do, however,
have to start somewhere. Sometime. Soon. How bout now?
One
caveat, the key to all these tools is to embrace
authenticity, transparency and true community spirit.
Use them to empower your ideas and your fellow peers'
ideas! Share and share and share so everyone benefits!
Here
are five things you can do immediately to start working
toward that Web 2.0 "aha moment."
1. Go
to
LinkedIn.com and claim your name and build your
profile to 100% on that platform. Update your picture,
claim your VANITY URL on
Linkedin.com, update your
status at least two times a week, and ask your trusted
colleagues for great recommendations.
2. Go
to
Twitter.com - and just claim your name. You can build
your followers by using Twitter's search tool "Find
People" and search for people in your same vertical.
Once you find them, start following them! And look at
who else is following them to see if there is some good
synergy with those folks too. Build your base slowly.
3. Go
to Google and build your own Google Profile -
http://www.google.com/profiles/me. This will help you empower your name searchability on
Google itself!
5. Put
a Google Alert on your name and your company so you can
start tracking who is taking notice of you on the Web -
http://www.google.com/alerts .
If
you're just starting out in social media:
Here
are a few great resources to check out:
- mashable.com
- twittips.com
- dailyblogtips.com
And
here are a few terrific folks I'd recommend following on
Twitter:
- @stevekayser - amazing writer
- @alltop - guy kawasaki 's twitter
- @nettiehartsock
Be emboldened, emblazoned, enlivened to create the
online and offline career you want. It's never too late!
